August 2010

Dear Fourth Grade Parents:

Welcome to Legacy Academy! I am excited to begin a new year of learning and fun with your child. We have a terrific group of students, staff, and parents this year. LA’s Open House is scheduled for Thursday, September 2nd, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. If you are new to Legacy Academy, this will be an opportunity to get to know each other.

Born in Denver, I have lived in Elbert County since 1960. I have been married to the lovely Betsy for 32 years, have two wonderful children, Sam (23) and Sophie (19), and consider it a privilege to work with children. This will be my ninth year teaching fourth grade at the charter school. Previously, I worked at Singing Hills Elementary for three years in special education while working towards my Master’s Degree in Education.

Please read the attached classroom management plan. This information, coupled with the school wide behavior plan in your Parents Handbook, should be covered with your student. Please sign and return the signature page only by Friday, August 20. If you have questions, please jot them down on the back of the signature page. Clarification of questions will then be covered with the class to ensure conformity.

Your child’s academic, physical, and social needs can be best served when we communicate and work together. My contact information is attached. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
