Week 10 (OCT 22 – 26, 2007)

No school Thursday or Friday due to parent conferences.

Parent conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, 4 – 8 p.m. and Thursday, noon to 4 p.m. Report cards will be distributed then.

First quarter progress reports for anyone in Mr. Tallent’s classes were sent home today in their Monday Folders. These contain the grades they’ll receive on their report cards.

Open Court, spelling and vocabulary changes. Mr. Tallent will give no reading comprehension, spelling or vocabulary tests this shortened week (he has other language arts items up his sleeve). Mrs. Waide will follow the same testing schedule used the previous nine weeks.

Science. The 2nd annual Legacy Academy science fair is scheduled for Friday, December 7. I have included a few items on the science page of the fourth grade website to help you and your students plan their projects. Circulation of the complete packet of information has been delayed until next week.

Every Monday, parents should look for these two things:

  • *This Week’s Assignments (in the sidebar on the right), and
  • the current issue of my classroom newsletter, Mr. T’s Tattler

Absolutely no nuts, raspberries, pineapple, or baked goods containing milk in the classroom at anytime. This includes products your kids bring in daily for their snack. Airborne particles and residue on hands, clothing, desks, and in waste containers are of dire concern. Thanks for your help.

Fun Wednesday Snack Helpers are CaseyMae (snacks) and Justin (drinks). We start at 2:30 p.m., have 24 students, and there can be no nuts, raspberries, or pineapple in any snacks.

Math 54. Problem sets 39 – 40 will be due as homework this week. They will test this Wednesday.

Daily Oral Language (DOL). Students will edit four sentences daily in class and will test on the same sentences this Wednesday. Additionally, students will edit and rewrite two similar sentences weekly for a quiz grade (to see if they can apply their newfound editing knowledge).

Spelling. This week in Mr. T’s class only students will be using different spelling materials. There will be no weekly spelling test.

Vocabulary. Students will be using different vocabulary materials this week in Mr. T’s class only . There will be no weekly vocabulary test.

Shurley Grammar. Students will be classifying sentences and working with synonyms and antonyms. There will be no testing this week.
