Mutant grasshopper!

On July 13, 2008, near Elizabeth, Colorado, a homeowner, whose acreage was infested with clouds of grasshoppers, photographed this “mutant” grasshopper taken next to a garden hose with a one inch diameter. It measured 2.75 inches from the head to the end of it’s stinger, and it’s body was .75 inches thick. A landscaper on the property discovered two other mutants “both the size of field mice,” approximately four inches long.

This cool creature is actually a female Mormon Cricket after molting, i.e., after shedding its exoskeleton.
